A recent study published in the journal of clinical oncology showed that prophylactic use of compression sleeves reduced the incidence of arm swelling in women with high risk of breast cancer related lymphedema.

The study included 307 women, receiving compression sleeves in the first year after undergoing adjuvant treatments for breast cancer. Arm swellings were also determined in the patients.

The results indicated that the incidence of arm swelling was lesser in women using compression sleeves.

Thus, the results concluded that in women with high risk for lymphedema, prophylactic usage of compression sleeves reduced and delayed the emergence of arm swelling in the first year after breast cancer surgery.
