According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, women with a breast cancer history are more likely to get hypertension, diabetes in the later 10 years following diagnosis, compared to women without such history.

The study compared the rates of hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia by breast cancer status, and found the risk of hypertension and diabetes to be persisting after 10 years.

The research also highlights that the patients with breast cancer also happen to be a vulnerable population for higher risk of cardiometabolic risk factors and support targeted cardiovascular surveillance with respect to each patient and treatment nature to mitigate these risks.
